Points for critique

Description

So here is another idea how to make the dA community more active:

1. Let non subscribers write critique, but only subscribers can get critique. (Writing is work, getting is joy... so why ban non subscribers form work?)
2. Allow subscribers to offer points in return for critiques.
3. Make a page, where people can find critiqueable deviations for points.

This way subscribers can get critiqued by more people, and non subscribers can collect points to become subscribers. What's more: subscribers can collect points by writing critiques, and can offer these collected points for critiques. That will get the idea of "write critiques so you get critiques" under more control.

Additional ideas, based on comments:
- Critique needs to be accepted to get paid. This avoids people writing one word critiques followed by a bunch of comas.
- Critiqueable page should be order by amount offered
- Deviant should be able to limit the amount of points spent on critiques. If spendings exceed this limit, critique offers should be withdrawn until the deviant decides to offer again.

At first glimpse I like the idea.

I'm afraid, however, that with such a thing people would stop giving critiques to those without the sub to request it for - and am also afraid of yet another decrease in comments per user (with the attention all allocated for the "pointy critiques" one could forget about the others). Besides that there's also a matter of principle, one should give critiques for free, because we can, not because we're being bribed to. I also can only imagine myself paying for one from a pro and even so I'd think twice. What's so great about dA to me is that I had them for free and I grew up and now I give them back. I'm afraid this would implement a different ambiance in dA, especially for the n00bs that would follow after it. Not really concerned with the old school kids here, although I can envision it creating yet another barrier in the frontier, with the old school kids ranting about the good ol' days when dA was more of a community, etc, etc...

After all of this there is also another problem, with one of your suggestions in this deviation: "- Critiqueable page should be order by amount offered" --> That way only people with many points would be able to get their works in the frontpage. So, the poor and unpopular kids who are many of the times the ones who should get the critique the most will likely not be getting it, or perhaps not so fast as the kids with much much money (or popular, if you are popular people will give you points).

There is also another problem with this in practice. I can "see it": a deviant putting great effort in a critique to get them points, but the other one not accepting it because a) doesn't really wanna pay and/or b) doesn't want to pay to hear something that he didn't like (there's a lot of egos around here). :\

So, all in all, the idea is good because it'd be a jumpstart for many to get points and critiques, but there is a lot of issues that need to be solved. Good luck with that! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="15" height="15" alt=":aww:" title="Aww"/>
