This is an amazing photograph. The water looks so soft. I hope you don't mind, but I've featured it on my page as my "favorite for the moment"

Thanks! I'm glad you like it so much!

It was taken near the Austrian village Heiligenblut. I have many similar shoots of the waterfalls in that area.

I love this shot! The colors and light are so vibrant! I too use very little photoshoping. Though I do use it.

I used a 9stop neutral density filter (HOYA ND400) That way I could do a 30 second exposure. The camera was on a tripod. I used the same technique with: [link] [link] [link] [link]

I wondered if there was some HDR mix in this ... ;)

Not a bit! The exposure layers are blended entirely by hand, and no HDR tone mapping was used :)

ahh yes yes... but in essence its abit of the same principle... blending exposures ;) but very nice work!

Yeah... to certain extent they are similar. But manual blending usually gives more natural results :)

was this picture edited after shooting?
Reply
:iconrdevill:
rdevill Featured By Owner Feb 13, 2010  Hobbyist Photographer
Practically none! I did extract two different exposures from the RAW file, and blended them together, but I only did that because I don't have money for a gradient filters :D Otherwise I wouldn't have edited at all...

the final result is gorgeous! i asked because of the nice colours, i thought it was a photoshop filter or something like that... but i have to admit that the idea of using diferrent exposures is much simpler! :D
i'll have to start applying it! :P

Oh... the colors are a different story! To get colors like that you need to take photos in the golden hours. (In most places it is the first 2 hours after sunrise, and the last two hours before sunset. Near the equator you have less time, and near the poles more time.) Also having a good camera helps a lot too... I like the colors of Nikon SLR cameras most!
