Au revoir Paris...

This beautiful old passage on Champs-Élysées in Paris used to have a typical french coffee bar inside: not anymore. Starbucks has taken it's place with it's standard 21th century design totally ruining the atmosphere of the place. I'm not against new things, I'm not against development, but when it means that our cultural heritage is ruined, than I'm raged by it.

And the sad thing about this, is that WE tourists are responsible, but far not as much responsible as the french! Me - as a tourist - did go into starbucks to have a cup of coffee, but why did I do that? Simple: because when I tried to go into any french restaurant or coffee shop, the waiter didn't speak English or any other language well enough to communicate with tourists, and even told me off for not trying hard enough to speak French. And that happened several times... so after all... why on earth would I even try to avoid places where at least I know what type of coffee I can choose, and - althoug they do only speak french - they understand what I would like to have, and don't tell me off for explaining it in English...
